Affirmative measure

We advertise some roles using the affirmative measure that allows an APS job to be open to First Nations candidates only.

This measure aims to increase First Nations representation in the APS.

All applications for engagement and promotion are still assessed by merit.

Applying for a position under the Indigenous Affirmative Measure

If you apply under this measure, you’ll need to provide confirmation of heritage. You can do this with:

  • a letter signed by the chairperson of an incorporated Indigenous organisation
  • a confirmation of descent form signed by an Indigenous organisation.

To make sure the confirmation process isn’t a barrier, you can still apply but you’ll need to provide the documents if we offer you a position.
