In short

Treasury is led by a secretary and 7 deputy secretaries.

Jenny Wilkinson PSM

Secretary

Jenny Wilkinson PSM became the Secretary to the Treasury in June 2025.

Before that, she was the Secretary of the Department of Finance from August 2022 to June 2025.

Jenny has worked in the Australian Public Service for over 30 years. She started in 1988 as a cadet at the Reserve Bank of Australia. Her previous jobs include Deputy Secretary at the Treasury, and the Head of the Parliamentary Budget Office. In these roles she gave advice to the government about fiscal policy and the economy.

In 2021, Jenny won a Public Service Medal for her work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jenny studied at Princeton University, where she earned a Master’s degree in Public Affairs. She also has a Bachelor of Economics with Honours from the Australian National University.
