How we use our channels
We may choose to repost, share or reference content that contains information or links to material related to the Treasury portfolio.
We may also 'follow' or 'like' organisations or individuals involved with, or actively discussing relevant policy issues.
These practices do not constitute endorsement by Treasury.
What we expect from you
While we welcome questions, we ask you to be relevant and respectful.
When engaging with us, we expect you to:
- protect your personal privacy and that of others by not including personal information of either yourself or of others. Private information can include names, email addresses, private addresses or phone numbers
- represent your own views and not impersonate or falsely represent any other person.
Don’t:
- provide material that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others
- abuse, harass or threaten others
- make defamatory or libellous comments
- use insulting, provocative or hateful language
- use obscene or offensive language
- promote commercial interests
- provide overtly party-political comments
- make unproven or unsupported accusations against individuals or organisations
- conduct any illegal activity or solicit the performance of any illegal activity
- make comments that are irrelevant to the topic under discussion.
What you can expect from us
If you contact us and if your message does not meet our community guidelines, we may report or remove anything containing:
- spam
- profanity
- objectionable or prohibited material.
We may also block or delete a user if they breach these terms.
We have a social media policy to guide how our staff use social media. The policy covers what they post in both an official and non-official capacity.
The Australian Public Service Commission’s (APSC) APS Values and Code of Conduct govern the use of social media by public servants. Consistent with these policies, we expect our staff to maintain a high standard of conduct and behaviour online.
Privacy
We don’t endorse and we’re not responsible or liable for the privacy practices of social media platforms. This includes any websites they link to.
Using social media and any linked websites is at your own risk. When posting to a social media site, make sure you understand the tool or platform you’re using.
Read the terms of service, and don’t rely on the social media platform's security settings as a guarantee of privacy.
Remember that what you publish online is, or may become, publicly available, even from personal social media accounts.
We may record information included in communications with us and use that information for administrative purposes. We won’t try to further identify people unless we’re asked to or authorised by law.
